Philadelphia Road Trip
One of my goals for 2019 is to make more time for long weekends to see friends and family. Back in January I saw that there would be a particularly long 3 week stretch at work that would require some down time to fully recharge. Philadelphia has become a favorite destination as of late for Kirsten and I since its a relatively short drive, close proximity to one of our best friends and all things vegan.
Day 1 - Saturday:
Day 2 - Sunday:
Day 3 - Monday:
Today was a super laid back day that was spent lounging around continue to watch “The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes” and ending the night visiting Charlie was a Sinner.
This place absolutely blew us away with how good the food was. All of the meals are tapas sized and meant to be shared amongst the party, so naturally we all ordered different items so that we could cover a good portion of the menu:
Me:
- Caramelized Eggplant Bao Buns
- Smoked Gouda Arancini
- Roasted Cauliflower Steak
- Done and Dusted
Kirsten:
- Bangers and Mash
- Zucchini Crabcake Sliders
Megan:
- Potato Croquettes
- Buccatini & Meatballs
- Tom Collins
Day 4 - Tuesday:
On the last day of our trip, we’ve started a bit of a tradition to go to Reading Terminal Market to visit a few places and stock back up on some of our favorite staples:
Luv’s Deli - website
- Tuna Salad
- Capocollo Slices
- Mozzarella Slices
The Head Nut - website
- Garlic and Herb
- Smoked Paprika
- Chives
- Garlic Power
- Onion powder
- Sun-dried Tomatoes
- Oolong Tea
- Black Tea
Old City Coffee - website
- Vanilla Macchiatto
Fox & Son - website
- Poutine Fries
- Chorizo Fries
- Fried Cheese Curds
- Fried Broccoli Florets
Overall, our short trip has left me feeling pretty rested and focused, ready to take on the backlog of projects coming my way in the first half of the year.
As of this writing, we’re eyeing another trip to Philadelphia in the Spring, when the weather is a little better so that we can go out and explore a little more.
